Fantasy Faire 2011: Life in :[Plastik]:, it’s fantastic

I have to admit I was more than a little shocked when Aikea Rieko of Plastik sent me a megabunch of skins that she’s offering at Fantasy Faire 2011‘s Forest of Light sim. XD They are called the Aquamer skins, and while it is obvious from the name that they are for mermaids, IC:OOC co-blogger Nami Lithanos and I dressed up in them as anything but. XDDD

As everything in this skin line is for females, I had to be a female avatar for this photoshoot. I say “had to be” because I don’t genderbend unless it’s absolutely truly madly deeply necessary LOL. This first photo was taken when I started experimenting with a look for the Aquamer Shimah shade, which is one of the Plastik’s Fantasy Faire fundraising items. After the jump you’ll see more pics of Nami and me! Continue reading

Project FUR Japan now open!

Project FUR JapanProject FUR Japan, a Second Life fundraising event for animal rescue and support in Japan, officially opened to the public at 9:00pm SLT on the 2nd of April 2011. Even before the opening, over 1400USD (yes, RL money, not L$) was already raised!

In this post I’m going to show you a few awesome things I got during the bloggers’ preview the day before and within 24 hours after. Lots of designers may still not have their stuff placed on the sim so I’ll be revisiting from time to time :D

In the photo I’m sitting with a doggie I got from KauSa Pera of .::Hazard Kitty::., that is being sold at Project FUR. :D You can get a better look at my outfit after the cut…

Fantasy Faire Preview :D

Just in case you missed it, here’s the preview of the donation items from TRIBAL SOUL (the male elven skin “Godric”) and .::S::. Secrets Hair by Syndel Daviau! Bloggers got let in a day before the event starts, so I whizzed on over to see the sims. Syndel’s store is located in the Forest of Light.

I’d also like to show off a few more items that Syndel has in her store even if they’re not for the fundraiser:

Fantasy Faire 2011 preview: Material Squirrel

Material Squirrel Wings

Material Squirrel is another store I’ve been assigned to feature for Fantasy Faire 2011! Upon a visit to the main store, I found the most incredible variety of wings — fairy ones, feathered ones, leathery ones, and so on. Designer Kala Bijoux will be releasing four packs of the Melody wings, one of each set I picked below. :D

Material Squirrel Wings

The Moon Dust set (sample colour shown on the left) has several colour variations on the wings’ speckled/mottled pattern. The Night Breed set (sample on the right) consists of rich colours suitable for the darker, more gothy type of fairy. Continue reading

Curious Kitties RFL items!

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to be assigned to blog Curious Kitties for Fantasy Faire 2011! Despite the difficulties in Japan these days, Ameshin Yossarian still sent these items out @__@;; Thanks so much Ameshin! It really moves me when designers offer amazing stuff as 100% donation items as Curious Kitties has done for the items you see above. In this post you’ll see how they look on me. XD

Let’s start with the completely fantastic outfits. I noticed at once they are dresses, but hey… why not try to make it work on my male avatar? Continue reading

Project FUR preview: Fluxa and Eiran

Fluxa of the Yardsale Box blog and I are two of the many bloggers who signed up to help promote Project FUR Japan on Second Life. We found a couple fundraising items already out at some designers’ stores even as we wait for the event sim to be finished and opened. Flux is wearing a shirt from Statique, and I’m wearing a tanuki avatar from DERP. :D The tanuki comes in two colours, the natural one you see above, and a red-and-white variation aptly named “japan”. Fantasy Faire 2011 Project FUR Japan

Hey everybody! Although IC:OOC is a Second Life roleplay fashion blog, we think it’s part of our duty as bloggers to share and increase awareness of pressing RL issues that affect our second lives as well as our first ones. And one way we’re doing this is to share and increase awareness of charity fundraisers going on in SL. We’ve started this initiative with the fundraisers for Japan; we’re continuing it with Fantasy Faire 2011 (a Relay for Life  project of the American Cancer Society, website is here), and Project FUR Japan (to help the animals affected by the recent crisis, website is here).

Help Japan in SL: totally roleplay-friendly!

Yes, I'm wearing rats.

Sorry for the absence! RL’s detained me as of late, but here’s a post I’d been trying to work on during my free time in the past few days. The Help Japan in Second Life fundraiser, which I mentioned in a previous post, officially began at 8:00am SLT on the 19th March. I can’t remember how long it’s running for because my memory sucks and there’s no indication on the website, so head there now if you can!

So I walk in the valley of the shadow of serious

Posted in Charity Fundraiser, Urban, Victorian with tags , , , , , , on 20 March 2011 by Eiran Lionheart

The Mask of Lulz.

If you were to ask me what I think one of my biggest mistakes in life was, I’d say taking myself too seriously. :P Well, not taking oneself seriously at all is a bad idea too, but we’re talking about not going to either extreme. In the realm of roleplaying especially, sometimes it’s too easy to internalise our characters and RP a bit too much… so much so that we take dislike of our characters, or IC situations going not the way we want, as personal insults.

Taking one’s characters and RP too seriously also sometimes results in frequent complaints and bothering of GMs or admins over the smallest things, mainly because of the inability to resolve one ego against another. Unnecessary drama and butthurt ensues, when some of these issues could have been discussed civilly as grown-ups should do. Hey… off SL, I’ve had my fair share. XD

Anyhoo the reason I started this post because of the amazingggg (lol) mask I got from Faust Steamer, which inspired this satirical look for my Legacies 1891 character Kensington Harrow. Legacies is also where I took the photos in this post. Have a closer look… Continue reading

When my thoughts return to Tokyo

Eiran at High School of the Dead

A search for “Tokyo” brought up this roleplay sim, and since I’d been looking for an excuse to wear my decidedly normal urban outfit in a roleplay area, I went and snapped a few pics. I’m basically recycling some items here from the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser, along with something from Menswear Fashion Week that is happening 18th to 25th of March.

Fundraisers for Japan continue to happen in SL, right after I snapped these photos I learned of the HELP JAPAN IN SL event featuring some of my favourite SL designers, most if not all that I’m familiar with, are from Asia irl. Expect my friends and I to feature items from that event very soon, but in the meantime here is the organisation’s blog link… and some more pics. :D Continue reading
